Empowered Spaces

“Empowered Spaces presents the homes and offices of sixty architects and interior designers selected from the United States and abroad. To them, the environments they have created for themselves are in many respects indistinguishable from their own personal and professional identities. And, through them, it becomes clear that there are as many interpretations of good design as there are designers.

However, there is one common thread running throughout everything they say and practice: the belief that good design not only enlivens space and makes it work, but also makes a statement regarding how these professionals wish to influence, and contribute to, good design.”
Architects and Designers at Home is the second edition published two years after the first edition Empowered Spaces was sold out.

Feng Shui at Home

Many architects and interior designers today are including the ancient Chinese art of feng shui in their awareness of total design, addressing the universal concept essential to good design. Best-selling author and design journalist Carol Soucek King, M.F.A., Ph.D., demystifies the secrets of this philosophy as she ushers the reader through nearly thirty homes that exemplify the tenets of feng shui.

Properly applied, feng shui helps to balance the energy flow in our environment, enabling us to create homes that maximize energy, health and harmony.
Feng shui brings to the West the comfort, safety and beauty of mindful design. It fulfills our basic needs to be nurtured and inspire by our home—to live a creative, healthy life of happiness, abundance and balance.
